As the biggest vehicles on the road, trucks and truck drivers often get a bad rep for being dangerous or reckless. In the same way, the nature of the job opens them up to a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings. Truth is, without trucks and truckers we would be at a serious disadvantage. That’s because trucks transport most of the items we use every day such as furniture, clothing, electric machinery and food. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, trucks carried 60.6 percent of the $99 billion freight moved in April 2013 between US, Canada and Mexico.
With a statistic like that, it’s hard to deny the fact that truckers are embedded in the fabric of our everyday lives. So why are there so many misconceptions about truckers? Such as truckers being dangerous drivers and that they cause most accidents. Truth is, trucks are 3x less likely to be in an accident than a regular motor vehicle!
