Though the average person may not be able to hop in and drive one of these cars around, we can still take great pleasure in seeing and knowing the top ten fastest cars in the world. Though it has been some time since we last took a look at the fastest cars, most of them are still holding their place in the list. Between test track times, manufacturer estimates and real-world performance, some of these vehicles are separated only by a matter of one or two MPH.
Before we get into the fastest cars though, we feel it is more than important to mention one of the newest and most popular vehicles out. The Tesla Model S Performance is one of the first cars that was built from the ground up specifically to be an electric vehicle. And as an electric car, it can go from 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds, which also makes it one of the fastest cars out.
When compared to the fastest cars on the list below, (which, by the way, are not electric cars) that is quite impressive. On top of that, Consumer Reports stated that it tied as the most quiet car ever tested on their track. As its popularity grows, Tesla has built terminals throughout the country to improve the travel times of delivery to anxious customers. The terminals act as transport hubs where Tesla can send out truckloads of new cars to nearby cities in a short amount of time.
It goes without saying that as these cars travel from terminals to their new owners in nearby cities, they are most certainly traveling in enclosed transports like the ones Montway uses to ensure safe and sound delivery. But perhaps the best part about this vehicle is the price. Considering the power and speed of the Model S Performance, and the fact that it is an electric car, the cost is very reasonable at $87,400. With a price like that you can stop dreaming and start driving.

Now with that said, let’s take a look at the top ten fastest cars in the world and get to dreaming!
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
It may be one of the most expensive power cars on the market at $2.4 million, but the Bugatti Veryon Super Sport claimed the title of fastest car in the world on July 10, 2010 and has kept it ever since. This sleek, exotic-looking beauty hits a top speed of 267 MPH and can go from 0-60 in just 2.4 seconds. With its exotic looking style and amazing power, a car like this should always be handled with care and never placed on an open transport with other vehicles. For a car like this, it should be an enclosed transport all the way.
Hennessy Venom GT
When compared to the price of the Bugatti, the Hennessy Venom GT is bargain priced at $950,000. With a top speed of 260 MPH and the ability to go from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, it just trails the world’s fastest car. The vehicle is largely untested, but the company claims that it may be able to reach speeds in excess of 270 MPH. Not only that, but the car’s style is reminiscent of Batman. Anyone in for a cruise to the bat cave?
Koenigsegg Agera R
Like the Venom GT, the Koenigsegg Agera R has a much higher theoretical top speed than has been actually recorded. It clocks in with a relatively slow 263 MPH, (only when comparing it to the other fastest cars) but it’s theoretical top speed might be able to top all other cars in its weight class. The vehicle costs around $1.6 million and actually has the rare ability to be fitted with snow tires for those that wish to drive it around in snowy weather. Although we’re not sure many people will be perusing the snow-covered streets in this power car.
SSC Ultimate Aero
As one of the least expensive cars on the list, the SSC Ultimate Aero is just shy of $650,000. Though its top speed is a bit lower than the other fastest cars, it still tops out at around 257 MPH. It may not currently be the fastest car on the market, but for three years it was at the top of the list proving speed and price don’t always go hand in hand.
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo
Though the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo claims to be one of the fastest cars in the world, it is still largely untested. However, it is an American-manufactured vehicle and taps in an estimated top speed between 240 and 260 MPH. It may not be in top competition range compared to the other vehicles, but its top speed is much higher than most would expect from an American vehicle.
McLaren F1
The price of the McLaren is pretty high at nearly $1 million. However, it is well-known as one of the best performing vehicles out. Its speed titles may have been stripped away by newer cars, but the top speed of the McLaren still clocks in at just over 230 MPH. On top of that, only 60 were released for purchase so anyone with this vehicle can surely say they have one-of-a-kind. Well, at least close to one!
Noble M600
Though the top speed of this vehicle is just 225 MPH, it is one of the least expensive power cars at just $330,000. With a price like this coincided with a high speed, the Noble can be most attractive when compared to its competition. It can go from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds and weighs in at about 2,810.
Pagani Huayra
The Pagani Huayra is a bit of an unknown, but it can push the 230 MPH mark. Significantly faster than the vehicle it replaced, the Zonda, it still ranks well along some of the fastest cars in the world. It can reach 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and prices out at $1.3 million.
Lamborghini Aventador
What would a list of the fastest cars be without a Lamborghini? Supposedly the vehicle was named after a fighting bull, and by the looks of it you can certainly tell. At a price of just $400,000, it taps in at one of the cheapest vehicles on the list. Its top speed may only hit 220 MPH, but it can go from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. On top of that, this power car maintains the classic standards of excellence that go hand in hand with the Lamborghini name.
Jaguar XJ220
The Jaguar XJ220 is one of the world’s fastest cars despite the fact that it is about to pass its 20th anniversary. It may have been manufactured in 1992, and the body design reflects that, but it is still one of the smoothest-looking vehicles on the list. Considering its age, the fact that this Jaguar can almost match the top speed of the Aventador at 217 MPH is still largely impressive.
